Improving State Accountability Systems

Across the country policymakers are hungry for alternative approaches to accountability. They want, and need, examples of successful, effective, and more holistic school accountability structures.

How can states better diagnose and capture school performance? And can this diagnosis be done in a way that actually informs school improvement? Growth models, inspectorates, and college and career outcomes measures are three strategies we’ve identified and explored at length to refine state accountability systems and make them work better for students, teachers, schools, parents, and the public.
