Former Education Sector Policy Analyst

Now at New America Foundation, Anne Hyslop is a former a policy analyst at Education Sector. Her research interests include standards and accountability, state and local implementation of federal policy, and alignment between early childhood, K–12, and higher education policy.

Hyslop graduated from Georgetown University with a master's degree in public policy, concentrating in education, social, and family policy. At Georgetown, she conducted research examining the link between student exposure to standards-based accountability in high school and college readiness. Prior to graduate school, Hyslop worked in early childhood education policy in the Office of Governor Tim Kaine and for the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation. In these roles, she helped develop and manage Virginia’s Quality Rating and Improvement System and other efforts to promote improvements in school readiness, access to high-quality preschool, and professional development for the early childhood workforce. She holds a bachelor's degree in government from the College of William and Mary.
