Hinton is a former research associate with Education Sector's communications team.
Prior to joining Education Sector, Hinton held a postgraduate fellowship at the U.S. Department of Education, where he monitored federal higher education programs with the mission of increasing college access and quality. He has previously worked as a college tutor, an academic mentor to students in elementary and middle grades, and a high school math teacher. In 2005, he was a staff intern for U.S. Senator Richard Burr from North Carolina.
Hinton completed his undergraduate degree in mathematics education at North Carolina State University and holds a master's degree in education policy and management from Harvard University. He is a resident of Arlington, Va.
