Prior to joining Education Sector, Kargbo was production manager at American Psychiatric Publishing, Inc., the publishing arm of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). During his five-year tenure at the APA, he designed and produced scores of medical and scholarly text books, including several bestselling volumes.
Kargbo is actively engaged in his community and has worked on immigrant education and assimilation, as well as anti-trafficking and other social justice issues in the Washington area. He is a certified teacher of English as a Second Language (ESL), has over 10 years of experience teaching ESL, and has taught in the United States and abroad. He is also a member of the board of directors of Liberty's Promise, a local nonprofit that mentors immigrant youth to increase their odds of high school completion, college graduation, and personal and professional success.
Kargbo holds a master's degree in international politics from the University of London and an honor's degree in history from St. Mary's College of Maryland.
